Stay Safe for the Summer

Summer often brings to mind sunshine and fun but as with anything, too much of a good thing can be bad. Sunburns, heat exhaustion and insect bites are just a few situations that can ruin a perfectly enjoyable summer day. This month we will share some tips to keep your summer safe and fun-filled.
- Stay in a cool, shaded area.
- Wear clothing that’s loose and light.
- Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen. Use sunscreen with an SPF of 30+ and reapply every two hours.
- Stay informed. Know the signs and symptoms of heat overexposure, and what you can do to help.
- Keep yourself hydrated. Drink plenty of water and avoid sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic drinks.
- Avoid bug-friendly hours (mosquitoes love dusk and dawn).
- Wear insect repellent when outdoors and avoid bug-infested areas like places with tall grass and still, entrapped water.
- Don’t overdo it—work, play and exercise more lightly than usual.
