What Are Cabinet Lockouts?

Have you ever wondered why you walk into a home that's under construction, and notice that the cabinets aren't straight? This is called a cabinet lockout!
Cabinet lockouts are done after the cabinets are installed and painted. This is because doors, drawers and shelves are removed from the cabinets, for the painting process. Once they are finished painting, the painters will reinstall the doors, drawers and shelves. After the cabinets have had some time to acclimate to the inside temperature once air conditioning is on, the cabinet lockout is completed. Shelves are installed, doors and drawers are adjusted, and cabinet hardware is installed.
